Dénes Maróti is a Hungarian artist at Fiumano Clase Gallery (London, UK). He graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art, has had numerous solo exhibitions and shown his works internationally to critical acclaim. He uses abstract techniques and gestural marks to evoke memories of a time and place and a feeling. What is significant in Maróti’s work is capturing a sense of what it was like to be in that moment, rather than how it literally appeared. He is experimental in his approach to painting, in that he controls the colours, but lets shapes and forms emerge in his work. To a certain extent, he lets his paintings lead and reveal themselves. Part of the charm of his work is this juxtaposition between unpredictability and control. Over the course of ten years, he has shared his art with Playback Theatre too, where perosnal stories are listened and transformed into Art.
